Walkable city

The City – with its streets, parks and public space – facilitates people to meet on crossings of coincidence, obstructions or opportunities. On those crossings new connections evolve. Connections between people, animals, green, physical objects or the invisible. It’s so important that these connections will lead to a unity within the diversity of the city. Dutch urban designer and product designer Manon Garritsen projected the pattern of a tight community plan onto a sock. The connected and ‘walkable city’!

Manon Garritsen: “With these socks on you literally ‘walk your city’, is the city at your feet. I truly believe that the walkable cities – the cities you are able to explore while walking – are the vibrant and livable cities. Those are the places where you meet, cross paths and make connections.’
